Fall and Halloween Wreaths

I have never really been a wreath type of person (except at Christmas of course). But after seeing all the beautiful wreaths around that other bloggers are making I had to try my hand at it.

Here is one that I made out of leave branches and a wreath form that I got at the dollar store. I used a brownish glittery ribbon that I had on hand to wrap around the wreath form. I just snipped the leaves off of the branch and glued them together in groups of threes kind of forming a triangle. Then I glued them to the wreath sorta of interweaving them. I wish I had thought to take pictures of the different steps. This was my first attempt and I was really unsure how it would turn out, but I am really impressed with myself

After I made this my kids wanted a Halloween wreath so we headed back out to the dollar store to see what we could find. (I did take pictures of this one but I found out later that my 2 yr old had gotten hold of my camera and the lens was smudged so sorry for the blurry pictures).

I got another wreath form and found some small skulls. I had the black ribbon on hand. It actually has purple glitter on it but I think it worked.

The skulls had this bulge that would not let it lay flat on the wreath

so using my utility knife I cut it off.

Then I wrapped the ribbon around the wreath

and glued the skulls on.

Here it is hanging on my door.

Close up shot.

My kids are really excited about it. I think it turned out good.

My new header and buttons

For those of you that are regular readers you might have noticed the new design of my blog. From the beginning I have used generic or self made headers for this blog. I was never really in love with any of it. I am no designer! I knew I wanted something different, something that more reflected me, but I really had no clue what I actually wanted. So I kept putting it off and putting it off.

So when I won a giveaway for a new header over at Brandy's Battle I was super excited. Brandy herself actually does web graphic and designs over at Stitchblade Designs. She is so talented, you really need to go check her out.

After the excitement of winning I then got really nervous. How do I describe to someone else what I wanted when I had no idea myself. I told Brandy that and she said that it would be ok. She asked me some simple things like: Tell me about you, your blog, things you like, colors you love, hate etc...she said she was really good at matching people and boy was she right.

I told her a little about myself, what my blog was about, different colors that I liked and didn't like and I even sent her links to some blogs that I like and what I liked about them. It was very quick and painless. In no time she sent me the image that she had created. I was in love. I do feel like she got everything right. She even created a matching button. I then asked her to create me an Etsy button and for a small fee she not only created the button but an Etsy banner as well, which you can see here.

So if you are ready for a change but don't really know what you want (or even if you do know what you want) go talk to Brandy over at Stichblade Designs and she will take care of you and I know you will be pleased with her work as I was.

Spooky eyes for Halloween Decor

Here is a great idea to use to decorate your front door for Halloween.

Make glow in the dark eyes cling anywhere clings.

Using this tutorial and glow in the dark fabric paint and this outline (or any outline you want).
I think I am going to make a bunch more of these to put all over my front door.

Someone loved my Silhouette necklace!!

Do you remember this post. Well I linked it up to Be Different Act Normal's Saturday link party and that is where I met Delia from delia creates. She made her own version of the silhouette necklace.

She made one of her husband. Isn't it just beautiful or should I say handsome? I love how classy the gray and white looks. Go check out her Sweetheart Silhouette Necklace and while you are there take a look around because she has lots of other goodies there too.
