Fall and Halloween Wreaths

I have never really been a wreath type of person (except at Christmas of course). But after seeing all the beautiful wreaths around that other bloggers are making I had to try my hand at it.

Here is one that I made out of leave branches and a wreath form that I got at the dollar store. I used a brownish glittery ribbon that I had on hand to wrap around the wreath form. I just snipped the leaves off of the branch and glued them together in groups of threes kind of forming a triangle. Then I glued them to the wreath sorta of interweaving them. I wish I had thought to take pictures of the different steps. This was my first attempt and I was really unsure how it would turn out, but I am really impressed with myself

After I made this my kids wanted a Halloween wreath so we headed back out to the dollar store to see what we could find. (I did take pictures of this one but I found out later that my 2 yr old had gotten hold of my camera and the lens was smudged so sorry for the blurry pictures).

I got another wreath form and found some small skulls. I had the black ribbon on hand. It actually has purple glitter on it but I think it worked.

The skulls had this bulge that would not let it lay flat on the wreath

so using my utility knife I cut it off.

Then I wrapped the ribbon around the wreath

and glued the skulls on.

Here it is hanging on my door.

Close up shot.

My kids are really excited about it. I think it turned out good.

  4. Very cool wreath. I made a wreath for Halloween quite a few years ago and I still have it around somewhere. I think they are a great craft idea to make with kids for gifts for family members.
