Small Talk Six To Indulge or Not To Indulge?

A new weekly meme on MomDot called “Small Talk Six!” where each Saturday has a topic and you can respond to each topic with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, or 6 photos.

Today's topic is 6 things that make you sick, but you eat them anyways

This one is hard because I can't think of anything that I like to eat that makes me sick. So instead I will list 6 things that I would still it even if it made me sick

1. Milk - there are a lot of people out there that can't have dairy and I am certainly glad I am not one of them. I love my milk.

2. Ketchup - I am a ketchup alcoholic. When I was about ten I had some allergy tests done and they told me that I was allergic to tomatoes. Well at the time that was not such a big deal until we got home and my mom told me that I could not have ketchup. I believe that day I threw the biggest fit a ten year old ever has. It didn't take long for me to get my ketchup back and still love it to this day.

3. BBQ Chicken and Bacon Pizza from Papa Johns - love, love, love it

4. Dr. Pepper - it is my choice of poison.

5. Chicken - I really like it cooked any way it can be

6. Chocolate - this really should have been first on my list. It is my absolutely favorite thing on earth!!!

And...here we go!

1. It's cold and dark in the Arctic.

2. I do not like tomatoes.

3. My favorite health and beauty product is a good smelling body wash.

4. Our trip to Virgina was a nice long ride.

5. Well, first of all this is my first Friday Fill-In.

6. Me, my husband and my kids ; those were the cast of characters in a recent dream and it was weird.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to taking it easy after a 4 1/2 hour drive, tomorrow my plans include going to hang out at the pool and Sunday, I want to probably more of the same but will also be praying that my husband has a safe trip home from Florida where he is at a business conference!

Recycled plastic bottle flowers

Every Thursday I want to post a craft tutorial or spotlight a craft that I have found out in the craft world.

Today's craft is based of something I saw one time I think it was in a magazine, maybe Pack-o-Fun.

This is my first tutorial so please forgive me with the crappy pictures and wording

What you need

two plastic bottles of different sizes
sharpie (or other permanent) markers
18 gauge floral wire
green pipe cleaner
needle nose pliers
wire cutters
brad

First thing I did was cut the bottoms off of the bottles

Then I made holes in the middle. The plastic is very thick and hard to get through so I used my drill to do this but a hammer and nail might work too.

Then using the sharpie markers I let the kids color them.

Then I put a smaller one and a larger one together using the brad to attach them. You now have the blossom

Then I took the pipe cleaner and wrapped it around the floral wire (The pipe cleaner alone was not strong enough). Then I cut the extra wire off. You now have the stem.

Then I attached the stem to the to the blossom using the brad making a loop with the stem wire.

That's all there is to make your flower.

When you make several you can make a bouquet

"Quotes to Remember..." 5/25/09

I am a collector of quotes. I love it when I read something that inspires me. One quote that encompasses this is

"I love quotations because it is a joy to find thoughts one might have, beautifully expressed with much authority by someone recognized wiser than oneself." - Marlene Dietrich

I love quotes that encourage you to be something better than you are, make you think, make you laugh and make you remember.

Here is another one that I like.

"I am careful not to confuse excellence with perfection. Excellence, I can reach for; perfection is God's business." - Michael J. Fox

So in honor of the quotes that I love I officially name Mondays "Quotes to Remember..." day

Share your favorite quotes with me and it just might show up on "Quotes to Remember..."

Just getting started

So here I am. Starting out on my blogging journey.

I am going to start out by participating with Small Talk Six with momdot.com where each Saturday has a topic and you can respond to each topic with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, or 6 photos.
Today's topic 6 things you love or hate about the ocean.

I defiantly have a love/hate relationship with the ocean. So here is my list in no particular order

1. Love the feeling of getting away from it all.

2. Hate, hate, hate, the sand. How hot it is to walk on. How it gets into everything. I just hate the sand.

3. Love hunting for Seashells with my kids. To them they are all special.

4. Love the sound. The waves, The seagulls.

5. Hate how much work it is to get to the ocean. Living 2 hours away and having 4 kids to prepare for is so much work.

6. Love how my husband just lights up when we go. Growing up he spent the summers with his grandfather (who has pass away) living as a beach bum and he has such fond memories.

I probably could list a few more but will stop there. So how do you feel about the ocean. Just leave me a comment or visit momdot.com to join in the fun.
